Gosh, it's been awhile since I've posted here. A lot has happened in the last few years (yes, it's been years, I can't believe it, I'm such a slacker). But I think I can't really be blamed. I've had some pretty big developments that have kept me busy. The first one is:

Yep, I met (online), dated, moved in with, and married a man named Jeff. He's a high school science teacher, a music geek, a circus acrobat, and an incredibly awesome guy. We met in August of '05 and married last June. We got married in a movie theater, had a cartoon before the ceremony, served hot dogs, and had a photo booth. Thus the photo above. If there was ever any doubt that I knew what I was talking about with regard to online dating, I think I proved my skill by finding and marrying this wonderful man.

Something else that kept me busy was getting a new job. I found a new job mid-2006. I was still living in the outer Sunset in SF and the job was in Oakland. The commute was brutal and I worked hard. It was difficult to find time to do much of anything (when you added in having a relationship on top of that).

I quit my job last year in hopes of finding full-time work as an editor. I had a freelance development editing job lined up, editing a book about information architecture. That was great and lasted me to the end of the year. Again, it was very time consuming. I don't think I've ever had a harder job, but I loved it. Unfortunately, the economy also crashed during that time. It was the worst possible time to be out of work/freelancing. At least it seemed that way to me. And still seems that way. I'm currently looking for the perfect job for me. It's great that I have a supportive husband who wants me to find a job I love and is willing to keep us in food and housing while I do.

So what's been my excuse for the last few months? Eh, there's no excuse. In fact, none of the above is an excuse. If you want to write, you can find time to do it. But I sometimes think that, at least for me, writing comes in between living. I live for awhile and gain experience. Then I write. Then I live some more. It was just a very extended living time for me. Now it's time to write again.
